A man is walking through the woods, and he finds a >magic lamp< on the ground. Instinctively, he picks the lamp up and rubs the side of it with his sleeve, and out pops a genie. The genie thanks the man for freeing him and offers to grant him three wishes. The man is ecstatic and knows exactly what he wants.

“First,” says the man, “I want a billion dollars.”

The genie snaps his fingers, and a briefcase full of money materializes out of thin air.

The man is wide-eyed in amazement and continues, “Next, I want a Ferrari.”

The genie snaps his fingers, and a Ferrari appears from a puff of smoke.

The man continues, “Finally, I want to be irresistible to women.”

The genie snaps his fingers, and the man turns into a box of chocolates.

Moral, instructions can be easily be misinterpret, the results of the instructions aren’t always what you intends (especially in programming).

Open Source Company?
icon1 Xirus | icon2 Life | icon4 07 3rd, 2008| icon3No Comments »

I did not expect my company would use open source software to drive their daily business. Seriously.

  1. Productivity software: instead of Microsoft Office 2003/ 2007 for documents and etc., they used OpenOffice.
  2. Programming: The scripting is done on a software called UltraEdit (I still prefer notepad).
  3. Graphics/ image manipulator software: GIMP! (WTF).
  4. Centralized Database Project: Tortoise SVN!! (OMGWTFBBQ)

Too good to be true. And by the way, working here is comfortable and relaxing. Love it. =)

Last Friday evening, I receive a call from a local company, offering me a job after I had my interview with them as stated in this post: Interview -> 5th Asia Maritime & Logistics Conference and Exhibition 2008.

It’s a good place to start of. Here’s the advantages:

  1. Near to KLCC LRT station
  2. Near to Suria KLCC (food court,window shopping and etc)
  3. 5 days working
  4. Start 9.30am till 6.30pm (I can take my precious time traveling to office)
  5. Good salary as fresh graduate

So, there’s no reason why I should reject this offer. Too good to be true. Will be working tomorrow (1st July).

MMU Finance Division is planning to impose a RM 100/year IT service fee on all students starting from the academic year 2008/2009 (this trimester). The fee covers the maintenance fees of MMLS, course registration system, wireless services and other online systems.

What others have say about this?

  1. SRC Malacca: “Although the students from both of the campuses will be charged the same amount of fee, Cyberjaya campus will get a better service in terms of bandwidth increment (from 34 Mbps to 100 Mmbps). This is because the hardware of Cyberjaya campus is more advance than us and our hardware is not able to support the 100 Mbps bandwidth (Cyberjaya hardware can support up to 400 mbps while ours can only support up till 100 Mbps).”
  2. (2:28:51 PM) Saifudin: wtf
  3. (2:22:16 PM) Jue: hohoho
    (2:22:18 PM) Jue: giler
    (2:22:24 PM) Jue: camtu pun nk charge
  4. (2:19:11 PM) Imah: which is really sux.
  5. (2:29:26 PM) Devtar: thts like the dumbest bulletin post i have ever seen
    (2:29:44 PM) Devtar: “This is because the hardware of Cyberjaya campus is more advance than us and our hardware is not able to support the 100 Mbps bandwidth (Cyberjaya hardware can support up to 400 mbps while ours can only support up till 100 Mbps).”
    (2:29:52 PM) Devtar: macam budak kecik tulis

So, what’s your thought?

  1. Dad send me to Wisma UOA for an interview at 11am. Position? PHP Programmer.
  2. Arrived there 10 minutes before the interview.
  3. Get the visitor card, went up, and got a BIG surprise from the interviewer… assessment. Damn it.
  4. 1-2 question, I smiled. 3-last, I curse the paper. Who the hell wants to do so much of PHP string manipulation?!
  5. How’s the interview? It is the same shit with every company I attend, talk about your life, study life, project, club/society, skills and blah blah blah…
  6. 30 minutes later, try to reach dad. Could not get through, no signal (my dad’s phone).
  7. Walk from Wisma UOA to KLCC, I meant KL Convention Centre, not the Suria KLCC (shopping mall).
  8. Went to level 3, and start to look for my dad while trying to call him.
  9. Bounce a few bunch of UPPER class “dudes” (business man ler). Just smile and wave.
  10. Dad say exhibition is open for everyone. So went there, and the OMGWTFBBQ lady stop me and ask for “legit document”.
  11. I say to her I was looking for my dad, named Capt. Tasripin from IKMAL organization. By the way, IKMAL is the co-organizer.
  12. She refer me to the counter there.
  13. Went there. Holy fuck, did I saw an angel there? Damn, a damn cute girl became the guardian of the counter?! How the hell… *my phone rangs*. Darn it, my mom call.
  14. She was going to say “How can I help you SIR?”. Looking at her pretty face really melts me down. Damn! But, I had to go back and “entertain” my mom’s call.
  15. I go back and ask her about my dad whereabout and she do not know. I still need to find my dad, I am broke. How can I treat this cute girl if I don’t have any money? Shit!
  16. Haish, I still can’t contact him until… “beep beep”. Finally, got through it!
  17. We meet up, and went to exhibition. My dad ask why I did not go there? I say the OMGWTFBBQ lady stop me.
  18. We went there, the lady dissappear. Shit, just when I about to “slap” her bitch face.
  19. We walk around at the exhibition, my father become the collector of the goodies, while I become the lifter of the goodies.
  20. Went out, saw the girl… *melting*. Wait, I am freaking hungry!! I haven’t eat any breakfast! Stomach first, lady second!
  21. Eat lunch with few bunch of “dudes”. I do not enjoy their conversation about marine topics, but definitely I am going to enjoy my EXPENSIVE lunch here. Nyam nyam.
  22. My father went to conference, I went for a walk to Suria KLCC, forgetting about that girl.
  23. Check out new stores, new items, new things and so on. Again, I still forget about that girl.
  24. Bought medium size Dark Mocha Frappucino at Starbucks. Again, forget about that girl.
  25. Do nothing while enjoy the drink. Again, forget about that girl.
  26. Until time about to leave, I realize about that girl. Just when about to say “Helo” and stuffs, my dad came out.
  27. No choice, have to leave her and went back to Subang.
  28. Damn! Next time, if I saw that girl, definitely I am going to ask for her mobile phone number.
  29. SERIOUSLY!
  30. The end.

PHP Logout Script
icon1 Xirus | icon2 PHP | icon4 06 23rd, 2008| icon3No Comments »

After a few hours trying to get the login system from PHP Login script tutorial by phpeasystep.com to work properly, I found a few bugs within the logout code itself.

In their post,

<?php
// Put this code in first line of web page.
session_start();
session_destroy();
?>

it should be,

<?php
//start the session
session_start();
//check to make sure the session variable is registered
if(session_is_registered('some_ID')){
//session variable is registered, the user is ready to logout
session_unset();
session_destroy();
else{
//the session variable isn't registered, the user shouldn't even be on this page
header( "Location:login.php" );}
?>

If use the code from phpeasystep.com, it will not delete those session that is registered before, you still can use the privilege even you have logout of the system! Just replace it with the modified version of the original code for safer logout.

icon1 Xirus | icon2 Life | icon4 06 13th, 2008| icon31 Comment »

It such an annoying where the university does not post any announcement regarding convocation process in the bulletin board.
You need to dig it out by your own self and some extra help from your friends.

So, I decided to post the process, to soothe things out.

  3. SmartCard Pre-Registration: You need to activate your SmartCard in order to graduate. But before that, you need to verify your SmartCard is working or not.

Result just out few hours ago, and I have passed all of my subjects.
I now, declare myself as a free man (literally, no more useless study that leads to useless exam).

I know there is a time where I again will sit for some examination, but hey, if it is something that I’m interested, why not?
Definitely I’m not going to call it as examination, I call it as “knowledge test” (pretty much the same meaning with examination, but who cares, I’m a free man).

So, CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THAT PASSED AND WILL GRADUATE THIS AUGUST. I’m not going to say “see ya soon” as I have a numbers of people that I do not like to see them later (again, who cares, I’m a free man).

Here’s the screenshot that I have passed all of my subjects:
